German Courses (German as a Foreign Language)

Registration for students, staff of the University of Graz as well as external participants is possible from Wednesday, 18 February 2026 (11 am) until Monday, 23 February 2026 (until 11 am).

German Courses (German as a Foreign Language)

Registration starts on Wednesday, 18 February 2026 (11 am) and ends on Monday, 23 February 2026 (until 11 am).

De-registrations via our website are free of charge until Monday, 23 February 2026 (until 11 am). After the registration period, course fees will only be refunded in case of a course cancellation (see Terms and Conditions).

Students of the University of Graz:

Course registration is accessible via our online platform. Please log in with your UNIGRAZonline student data before booking the course of your choosing. Please note that payment is only possible by credit card or debit card during this process.

► PLEASE NOTE: Enter your degree programme (e.g. UB 033 665 Molecular Biology Bachelor’s program) in order to be registered in UNIGRAZonline. (Your information can be updated at ”edit user data “, see instructions).

You will be automatically registered in UNIGRAZonline after the registration period (from 23 February to 25 February 2026).

 

Students from other university educational institutions: University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), Medical University Graz (MED Uni Graz), Graz University of Technology (TU Graz), Montanuniversität Leoben:

Students must be registered as co-registrants until 18 February 2026! Access data for UNIGRAZonline will be provided by the department of Academic Affairs. NOTE: Co-registration is only valid for one semester! Course registration is accessible via our online platform. Please log in with your UNIGRAZonline student data before booking the course of your choosing. Please note that payment is only possible by credit card or debit card during this process.

Course registration is accessible via our online platform. In case you do not have an account for our website yet, please register before you log in to book the course of your choosing. Please note that payment is only possible by credit card or debit card during this process.

 

The fee applies to each course for one semester.

  • 2 hour course € 90 Degree program students at the University of Graz and the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz)
  • 2 hour course € 190 Non-degree program students and students at other universities (MUG, KUG, MU Leoben)
  • 2 hour course € 190 Employees of the University of Graz and the Graz University of Technology (TU Graz) and external participants

Which course level should I choose?

We offer course levels ranging from A1 to C1. We recommend to attend both phases 1 and 2 in order to complete a course level.

However, it is not required to attend the 1st phase to be able to register for the 2nd phase. With previous knowledge of the language, it is possible to directly start with phase 2. To inquire your language skills, please take our Self-assessment test.

 

I do not own a credit card, may I still register for a course?

Yes! If you do not have the option to pay by credit card, please contact us as early as possible, within the registration period: alexandra.tzivanopoulos(at)uni-graz.at

 

How do I receive a fixed place in UNIGRAZonline?

After successfully booking your course via our online form, you will be automatically registered in UNIGRAZonline after the registration period.

 

What happens if I am on the waiting list? 

Each of our language courses has a waiting list. If a space becomes available, you will receive an e-mail on a First Come, First Served basis and the chance to secure a fixed place.

 

ECTS & course certificates

Students receive ECTS points after participating in our language courses and can have the courses credited towards the free electives of their degree programme.
► 30 units (2st.) – 3 ECTS-points

Course certificate for students:

80 % attendance, active participation, achievement of course goals,  assignments, written or oral exam at the end of the semester. The certificate can be printed via UNIGRAZonline a few weeks after the end of the course (see „Exam Results“).

University staff and external participants: Participants can choose between a confirmation of participation with grade or a confirmation of attendance. 
Confirmation of participation with grade: Assessment activity required: Both the midterm and the final exam must be taken. Attendance of at least 70 % is mandatory. Confirmation of attendance: No assessment activity required: Attendance of at least 70 % is sufficient.
