My Language(s) and I
The Didactics Research Unit at treffpunkt sprachen ‒ Centre for Language, Plurilingualism and Didactics focuses its teaching and research activities on the subject area of “My language(s) and I” within the framework of various educational and learning settings and specialist disciplines. The department provides a diverse and methodologically innovative set of courses that enhance both professional and personal skill development.
The research-based and practice-oriented courses are designed for students from all faculties, (prospective) language teachers and individuals interested in languages. They are grounded in extensive research and emphasize practical application. The aim is to integrate the most recent, subject and language-specific didactic practices into university instruction and to make them accessible to students, language teachers and those interested in languages.
The course catalogue is structured around the didactic triangle of teaching ‒ research ‒ consulting. Central to every course are recent and practice-oriented topics within subject didactics and language teaching and learning research. Innovative research activities and concrete project results from the scientific and theoretical basis of each course at treffpunkt sprachen. In addition, these courses are thematically related to language teaching and learning. As a result, special attention is paid to the development of relevant teaching skills. The advisory level ensures individualized support in each course and gives special attention to personal issues and developmental interests. All course instructors work in an advisory capacity and support participants in their personal learning concerns. This places the didactic courses offered in a research-based and consultative context.
The didactic courses are offered separately and are thematically coherent, promoting subject and language didactic learning and teaching skills. Students are encouraged to take several courses to acquire these skills. After successfully completing six courses, participants will receive a certificate.
