VUS

The key to a modern language society is its comprehensive understanding of language, which includes the promotion of plurality and multilingualism on several levels. The Association of University Language Centers and Institutions (VUS) focuses on the fields of language teaching, language didactics, language teaching and learning research, language documentation and language policy. An ambitious yet realistic goal is to bundle these dynamic activities through the association, to strengthen initiatives and to use synergies as well as know-how.

Internationally oriented centers such as treffpunkt sprachen – Center for Language, Plurilingualism and Didactics at the University of Graz (trsp), the Language Center at the University of Innsbruck, the Language Center at Salzburg University and the Language Center at the University of Vienna (SZUW) respond to these important challenges by drawing upon their many years of experience. They make significant contributions to promoting languages, establishing them in the form of courses for credit at the universities and offering a wide range of classes to both students and external participants, thus ensuring linguistic diversity in Austrian teaching.
