Dear students!

This summer term you can once again choose from a wide variety of language courses at treffpunkt sprachen. Most of the registrations open next week. You can find out more in this newsletter and via the links below.

 

Foreign Language Semester Courses

You can choose from many languages: Arabic, English, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Croatian, Dutch, Austrian Sign Language, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Spanish and Turkish.

Registration for students
Via our online platform, from Monday, 16 February (registration starts at 9 am for English, 10 am for French, 11 am for the other languages, noon for Italian, 1 pm for Spanish) to Monday, 23 February 2026 (until noon).

German Semester Courses

We offer general German language courses for the levels A1 to C1. In addition, you can choose specialization courses and courses for specific purposes (e. g. Grammar practice from level A2 onward or language proficiency from level B2 onward).

Via our online platform, from Wednesday, 18 February (11 am) to Monday, 23 February 2026 (11 am).

Preparatory Language Courses for Students of Romance, Slavic and Translation Studies

In order to prepare students for the language education of Romance, Slavic and Translation Studies, we offer the following courses this winter term: Arabic, Austrian Sign Language and Spanish.

Via our online platform, from Monday, 23 February (1 pm) to Thursday, 26 February 2026 (1 pm).

Module "Introduction to African Studies"

With eight courses, the module "Introduction to African Studies" fills a gap at the University of Graz. Anti-racist, decolonial approaches are key, and will be taught to students of all disciplines theorectically, practically, and as tools. The various themes cover languages and linguistics, ways of dealing with data and materials from colonial contexts, as well as literary, art, and cultural studies.

Participation in the one-year module is without charge and worth 24 ECTS points. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the entire module. The attendance of individual courses is possible as well.

Module "Interdisciplinary Teaching of Austrian Sign Language"

With eight courses, the module “Interdisciplinary Teaching of Austrian Sign Language” provides a foundation for teaching Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS) based on Deaf Studies and focuses on the following topics: Examination of the linguistic and grammatical structures of ÖGS and its rich variety of variants, highlighting its identity-forming dimension and its interweaving with deaf culture, as well as the pedagogical and didactic teaching of this visual-spatial language in theory and practice.

The modules are free of charge. Students can earn 3 ECTS credits per 1-hour module as an elective course.

Tandem Language Learning Partnerships

We would like to make you aware of an additional offer which is free of charge for all course participants: language learning partnerships! Participate in a language learning partnership with a fellow student whose native language you want to learn and get to know more about the respectively other culture while improving your language proficiency in a casual atmosphere.

Via an online form, from Monday, 2 March until Sunday, 15 March 2026.
