Summer Term 2024 - Part 2 (Content)
Building on the VU "Latin Language Course for Beginners 1". Basic features of Greek-Roman intellectual and cultural history (history, philosophy, mythology), etymology, translation and interpretation of easy to moderately difficult original texts (by Hygin, Caesar, Erasmus of Rotterdam, Seneca, Pliny minor and others).

Greek alphabet, phonology, form theory and syntax, etymology, translation of the lessons of the textbook.
Summer Term 2024 - Part 2 (Content)
Building on the VU "Ancient Greek Language Course for Beginners 1": with the help of selected original texts from different genres and epochs of Greek literature, an insight will be given into the diversity of ancient Greek expression and into time-transcending themes of Greek thought and philosophy. Selections from the following authors will be covered: Aristoteles, Epikur, Dion Chrysostomos, Diognetbrief, Lukian, Pausanias, Martyrium des Polykarp, Herodot as well as (not relevant to the exam) Homer und poetry.
